About me

Sue Pritchard

Artist

Hi, I’m Sue, welcome to Wood&Yarn. I am an artist and crafter who creates small wooden houses and street scenes. Houses and streets can be personalised by having painted designs on them, photographs, shops named after them or have your own home or business replicated. All work is handmade and unique in design, no two are the same.
Materials used for the houses are wood (bases usually from our log store), nails, bark and slate all hand painted with furniture or chalk paints. For embellishments; wood shapes, beads, wax thread, fir cones, pine trees and metal charms are used.
Macrame and weaves are made up of chunky 4 ply wool and between 3 - 5mm cotton yarn hung from branches collected whilst walking our dog Frankie. All wood and cones are cleansed, sanded and waxed.

Commissions

Commissions vary in size and detail. The one featured was a large detached house with a large detailed garden. The house was made from one block of wood for main part and additional pieces added for extensions. The roof was made out of cones. The garden was painted on the base surface. Dried flowers, string and pine trees were used as shrubbery detail.
